Eko 0-20 Brix Economic Handheld Refractometer

  • The Eko 0-20 Brix refractometer is a binocular-type measuring device capable of measuring Brix from 0% to 20% in samples.

  • It should be noted that economic refractometers may have cosmetic defects (such as light hairline scratches) in some cases. These defects do not affect the measurement accuracy of the device and remain only as visual differences.

  • This refractometer operates without the need for a power source, offering extremely simple and practical use.

  • This refractometer model is typically used to measure the Brix value in fruit juices, milk, beer yeast, light syrup, and low concentration beverages.

  • To see the measurement results more clearly, ensure that the prism receives sufficient light.

  • Calibration of the device can be done externally with distilled water you provide, and the focus adjustment is made from the binocular part.

  • This refractometer device has the ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) feature, with a compensation range changing between 10°C and 20°C.

  • The prism of the refractometer should be carefully protected from impacts and scratches. A scratch-free prism always ensures accurate and clear measurement results.

  • For higher quality and clearer results, the measurement prism should be gently cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.

  • Accessories that come with the refractometer include a hard carrying case, a small screwdriver for calibration adjustment, a plastic dropper, a cleaning cloth, and a user manual.

Usual Sugar (°Bx) Values in Measured Solution:

  • In a solution weighing 100 grams with a 25°Bx value; it means there are 25 grams of sugar. In other words, 25 grams of the 100-gram 25°Bx solution is sugar, and 75 grams is water.

How to Measure?

  • Hold the refractometer by the body with the side where the sample is dropped on the inclined prism facing the light. With the cover closed, position the binocular section of the device to your eye and read the value on the measurement table you see. If the values are not clear, you can adjust the focus by turning the adjustment ring just above the binoculars to rotate the measurement table to the right or left.

Zero Adjustment:

  • First, open the prism cover and drop 1-2 drops of distilled water onto the inclined prism surface and close the cover slowly. Thus, a thin layer of water will remain between the prism surface and the cover. If you do not see the dark-light separation image seen around the 0 (zero) line on the measurement table clearly; by turning the calibration screw with the help of a screwdriver, make sure the dark-light separation coincides exactly with the zero line of the measurement table.
