Eko 0-90 Brix refractometer; is a binocular type measuring device capable of measuring Brix of samples between 0% and 90%.
It should be noted that there may be cosmetic defects (such as light hairline scratches) in economic refractometers in some cases. These defects do not affect the measurement accuracy of the device and remain as visual differences only.
This refractometer operates without the need for a power source, providing extremely simple and practical use.
This model of refractometer is generally used to measure the Brix value of liquids with very high density, machine oils, vegetable oils, jams, and similar products.
To see the measurement results more clearly, you must ensure that the prism receives sufficient light.
The device can be calibrated with distilled water obtained externally, and the clarity adjustment is made from the binocular part.
This refractometer device features ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) and the compensation range varies between 10°C and 20°C.
The prism of the refractometer should be carefully protected from impacts and scratches. A scratch-free prism always ensures accurate and clear measurement results.
To achieve higher quality and clearer results, the measurement prism should be gently cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.
Accessories included with the refractometer are a hard carrying case, a small screwdriver for calibration adjustment, a plastic dropper, a cleaning cloth, and a user manual.
Typical Sugar (°Bx) Values in the Measured Solution:
- In a solution with a weight of 100 grams and a value of 25°Bx; it means there are 25 grams of sugar. In other words, in a 25°Bx solution weighing 100 grams, 25 grams are sugar, and 75 grams are water.
How to Measure?
- Take the refractometer in your hand by holding the side with the inclined prism where the sample is dropped facing the light. With the cover closed, position the binocular part of the device to your eye and read the value you see in the measurement chart. If the values are not clear, you can adjust the clarity by turning the adjustment ring just above the binocular to shift the measurement chart left or right.
Zero Adjustment:
- First, open the prism cover and drop 1-2 drops of distilled water onto the inclined prism surface and close the cover slowly. This will leave a thin layer of water between the prism surface and the cover. If you do not see the dark-light separation image clearly around the 0 (zero) line of the measurement chart; adjust the dark-light separation to align exactly with the zero line of the measurement chart using a screwdriver to turn the calibration screw.
