Hanna HI 981030 GroLine Soil pH Test Device

  • The Hanna HI981030 GroLine soil pH test device is designed to bring simplicity to soil pH testing, used for direct pH measurements in soil for environmental and agricultural tests.

  • The integrated probe has an open reference connection, a conical glass tip, and a removable sleeve design, making it ideal for measuring soil pH.

IMPORTANCE OF DIRECT MEASUREMENT FROM SOIL:

  • Soil is a mixture that contains additives like peat and fertilizer.

  • The ability to use this soil homogeneously in all cultivated plants is made possible with this device.

  • For example, a producer with plants in multiple pots can determine what deficiency is causing different or yellowing leaf colors in some pots with this device.

SOIL PH MEASUREMENT:

  • The soil pH value is measured with the Hanna HI981030 device's conical-tipped glass probe out of the device's box.

  • The soil pH value is one of the most important parameters in plant cultivation, nutrition, and growth.

  • Therefore, accurately adjusting the soil pH value is very important.

  • The Hanna HI981030 GroLine soil pH test device is designed to bring simplicity to soil pH testing, used for direct pH measurements in soil for environmental and agricultural tests.

  • The pH electrode has a removable and cleanable outer junction sleeve.

  • After cleaning, a small amount of supplied gel electrolyte is added, renewing the junction and improving pH measurement.

  • This way, the lifespan of the measurement device is extended.

  • It features a conical-tipped glass probe.

  • This structure allows it to easily penetrate wet soil.

  • If stones are present in the soil or if the soil has been compacted, it's best to use an auger to make a hole for the pH electrode to enter.

  • Additionally, if the soil is dry, purified water can be used to moisten the soil.

  • After immersing the device into the soil and taking a measurement, you can clean the probe with tap water immediately after taking another measurement.

  • However, after completing the final soil pH measurement, you must clean the probe with distilled water instead of tap water.

  • If you directly insert the probe into hard or stony soil, the device's probe may be damaged.

  • In this case, the device becomes excluded from warranty.

  • The plastic of the Hanna 981030 soil pH meter device is made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).

  • It is a food-grade plastic resistant to most chemicals and solvents, including sodium hypochlorite used for disinfection.

  • It has high abrasion resistance, mechanical strength, and ultraviolet resistance.

  • PVDF also resists fungal growth.

  • It features a large and high-quality LCD screen.

  • A hourglass indicator is displayed on the screen until a stable reading is obtained.

  • When a reading is stable, the indicator disappears, and a reading can be taken.

  • The soil pH measurement device has a probe diagnosis feature.

  • This is an error warning indicating that the probe needs cleaning during calibration or measurement, displayed as an Err message on the screen.

  • The GroLine soil pH test device is automatically calibrated to one or two points.

  • Calibration buffers are automatically recognized, and the buffer values used after calibration are displayed on the screen.

  • Before each use, you need to perform the necessary calibrations to obtain accurate results.

  • To conserve battery life, the device has an automatic shut-off feature in two different functions, 8 and 60 minutes.

  • You can also disable this feature if desired.

  • The GroLine soil pH test device operates with 1 CR2032 battery.

  • It has an exceptional battery life of approximately 1000 hours.

  • When the battery power is low, a low battery indicator is displayed.

If the inside of the soil pH measurement device becomes dirty, you must follow these steps:

  • First, carefully remove the sleeve by pulling it straight up while turning the device upside down.

  • Rinse electrolyte gel residues with distilled water.

  • Immerse the sensor tip in the HI700663P or HI700664P solution for 20 minutes, as provided in the package.

  • After the time is up, rinse again with distilled water.

  • Fill the HI9071 reference gel provided in the package into the sleeve as shown in the 3rd and 4th images.

  • Reinsert the sleeve in the same way you removed it.

  • Clean excess gels coming out from the sleeve with a soft cloth.

  • In the final step, rinse the device again with distilled water.

Note:

  • If the protective cover of the device becomes dirty, clean it again with distilled water.

  • After each use, preserve the probe by adding 3-4 drops of the HI9072 solution provided in the package to the protective cap.
