Eko 0-80 Brix Economic Handheld Refractometer

  • The Eko 0-80 Brix refractometer is a telescope-type measuring device capable of measuring Brix values in samples ranging from 0% to 80%.
  • It should be noted that economical refractometers may have some cosmetic imperfections (such as minor hairline scratches). These do not affect measurement accuracy and only appear as visual differences.
  • This refractometer operates without the need for a power source, offering a very simple and practical usage.
  • This model is generally used to determine the Brix value of jams and fruit concentrates.
  • To see measurement results more clearly, ensure the prism receives a sufficient amount of light.
  • The device can be calibrated externally with distilled water, while focus adjustment is done via the eyepiece.
  • This refractometer has an ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) feature, with a compensation range between 10°C and 20°C.
  • The prism should be carefully protected from impacts and scratches. A scratch-free prism ensures accurate and clear measurement results.
  • For better and clearer results, the measurement prism should be gently cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.
  • Included accessories: hard carrying case, small screwdriver for calibration adjustment, plastic dropper, cleaning cloth, and user manual.

Typical Sugar (°Bx) Values in the Measured Solution:

  • A solution weighing 100 grams with a value of 25°Bx contains 25 grams of sugar. In other words, in a 100-gram solution with 25°Bx, 25 grams is sugar and 75 grams is water.

How to Measure?

  • Hold the refractometer by its body so that the slanted prism part, where the sample is placed, faces the light. With the cover closed, place the eyepiece part to your eye and read the value on the measurement scale you see. If the values are unclear, adjust the focus by turning the adjustment ring located just above the eyepiece to bring the scale into clear view.

How to Perform Zero Calibration:

  • Open the prism cover and place 1-2 drops of distilled water on the slanted prism surface, then gently close the cover. This leaves a thin layer of water between the prism surface and the cover. If you cannot clearly see the dark-light boundary near the zero (0) line on the scale, use a screwdriver to turn the calibration screw and align the boundary perfectly with the zero line on the scale.
