Eko Milk Refractometer

  • Eko Milk Refractometer; is a precise device designed to measure Brix between 0% and 20%, aimed at determining the quality of milk.

  • It should be noted that in some cases, economic refractometers may have cosmetic defects (such as slight hairline scratches). These defects do not affect the measurement accuracy of the device and remain only as visual differences.

  • The purpose of using the refractometer is generally to allow you to determine whether water has been added to the milk.

  • This refractometer model is commonly used in sectors such as milk producers and dairy businesses.

  • Eko Milk Refractometer also has the capacity to measure Brix of other samples specified in the table, besides milk.

  • This refractometer operates without the need for a power source, offering extremely simple and practical use.

  • Ensure that the prism receives sufficient light to see the measurement results more clearly.

  • Calibration settings of the device can be made with distilled water obtained externally, and clarity adjustment is performed from the binocular part.

  • This refractometer device features ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) and the compensation range varies between 10°C and 15°C.

  • The prism of the refractometer should be carefully protected from impacts and scratches. A scratch-free prism always ensures accurate and clear measurement results.

  • For higher quality and clearer results, the measurement prism should be gently cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.

  • Accessories that come with the refractometer include; hard carrying case, small screwdriver for calibration settings, plastic dropper, cleaning cloth, and user manual.

Common Sugar (°Bx) Values in the Measured Solution:

  • In a solution with a weight of 100 grams and a °Bx value of 25, it means there are 25 grams of sugar. In other words, of the 100 grams weight of the 25°Bx solution, 25 grams is sugar, and 75 grams is water.

How to Measure?

  • Hold the refractometer by the body with the side where the inclined prism with the sample drop is facing the light. With the lid closed, position the binocular part of the device to your eye and read the value on the measurement table. If the values are not clear, turn the adjustment ring just above the binoculars to the right or left to adjust the clarity of the measurement table.

Performing Zero Adjustment:

  • First, open the prism lid and gently close it after dropping 1-2 drops of distilled water on the inclined prism surface. Thus, a thin water layer will remain between the prism surface and the lid. If you do not see the dark-light separation image around the 0 (zero) line of the measurement table clearly; adjust the dark-light separation to coincide exactly with the zero line of the measurement table by turning the calibration screw with a screwdriver.
