Loyka Boron Oil Refractometer

  • Loyka Boron Oil Refractometer; are devices used to measure the oil ratio in metalworking fluids (bor oils), coolant fluids, and cutting fluids used in CNC and other production machines, in other words, the brix value of the emulsion oil ratio.

  • It is a binocular-type measurement device that can measure the brix of samples between 0% and 32%.

  • It ensures the determination of the oil ratio in machining fluids (bor oils), coolant fluids, and cutting fluids in terms of brix.

  • It can be used easily without requiring any power source.

  • In addition to bor oil, the brix value of other materials such as fruit juice and milk can also be measured.

  • To ensure easy reading of measurement results, make sure the prism receives enough light.

  • Zero adjustment can be made with calibration fluid, and focus adjustment can be done with the adjustment ring on the binoculars.

  • It has an ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) feature. The ATC compensation range is between 10°C and 20°C.

  • The prism should be protected from impacts and scratches; a scratch-free prism provides accurate results.

  • The measurement prism should be cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.

  • Along with the device; there is calibration fluid, a hard carrying case, a small screwdriver for calibration adjustment, a plastic dropper, a cleaning cloth, and a user manual.

Normal Sugar (°Bx) Values in Measured Solution

  • In a solution weighing 100 grams with a 25°Bx value, there are 25 grams of sugar.

  • In other words, in a 100 gram solution with 25°Bx, 25 grams are sugar and 75 grams are water.

How to Measure?

  • Take the refractometer in your hand by holding it from the body so that the inclined prism at the end where the sample is dropped faces the light.

  • With the cover closed, place the binocular part of the device to your eye and try to read the value on the measurement table.

  • If the values are not clear, you can adjust the focus by turning the adjustment ring on the binoculars to move the measurement table left or right.

Making Zero Adjustment

  • Open the prism cover and drop 1-2 drops of pure water on the inclined prism surface.

  • Slowly close the cover; thus, a thin layer of water is formed between the prism and the cover.

  • A dark-light separation should appear around the 0 (zero) line on the measurement table.

  • If it is not visible, turn the calibration screw using a screwdriver to ensure the dark-light separation exactly aligns with the zero line.
