The prism of the refractometer must be protected from shocks and scratches. With a scratch-free prism, you will always get clear results.
For better and clearer results, the measuring prism should be cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.

HOW TO MEASURE?
Hold the refractometer by its body so that the inclined prism at the tip, where the sample is dropped, faces the light source.
With the cover closed, place the eyepiece to your eye and try to read the value on the measurement scale you see.
If the values you see are not clear, turn the adjustment ring above the eyepiece to make the measurement scale clearer.
ZERO CALIBRATION:
First, open the prism cover and drop 1-2 drops of distilled water on the inclined prism surface, then close the cover slowly.
This will leave a thin layer of water between the prism surface and the cover.
If the dark-light separation image around the zero line on the measurement scale is not clear;
Adjust the calibration screw with a screwdriver until the dark-light separation aligns exactly with the zero line on the measurement scale.
