Loyka alcohol refractometer; a binocular type measuring device capable of measuring alcohol volume between %0 v/v and %80 v/v.
This refractometer model is commonly used for measuring drinks like whiskey, vodka, gin, rakı. However, it is not used for alcohol types with a lot of sugar and other components like beer, wine, etc.
Additionally, this alcohol refractometer device should definitely not be used to distinguish between ethyl and methyl alcohol. No support is provided on this topic.
Ensure that the prism receives enough light for easier reading of measurement results.
Zero adjustment and focus adjustment of the binoculars are made with the calibration liquid that comes with the device.
This refractometer device has the ATC feature. The ATC compensation range is 10°C....20°C.
The prism of the refractometer must be protected from impacts and scratches. You will always get clear results with an unscratched prism.
For higher quality and clearer results, the measurement prism should be cleaned with a soft cloth after each use.
Accessories that come with the refractometer are; calibration liquid, hard carrying case, small screwdriver for calibration adjustment, plastic dropper, cleaning cloth, and user manual.
HOW TO MEASURE?
Hold the refractometer by the body with the side where the sample is dripped on the slanted prism facing the light, and with the lid closed, position the binocular part of the device to your eye and try to read the value you see on the measurement chart.
If the values you see are not clear, you can adjust the measurement chart by turning the adjustment ring just above the binoculars and moving the measurement chart left or right for clarity.
Making the Zero Adjustment:
First, open the prism cover and drop 1-2 drops of pure water on the slanted prism surface and gently close the cover.
Thus, a thin layer of water will remain between the prism surface and the cover.
Adjust the Dark-Light separation image seen near the 0 (zero) line of the measurement chart. If not, use the Calibration Screw with the help of a screwdriver to align the Dark-Light separation precisely with the zero line of the measurement chart.
